The complete syllabus and student attendance log are attached below. For your reference, I have pasted the attendance requirements from the syllabus:
Students are required to attend and participate appropriately (e.g., professional behavior, attire, etc.) in a specific class for a minimum one class period per week for the entire semester, observing and implementing learning activities and assessments related to literacy. Attendance and appropriate participation at the field placement (during a consistent class period each week) is mandatory from the time students receive their placement until Dec. 9, 2010. Irregular attendance or inappropriate behavior (e.g., consistent tardies or other unprofessional activities) will result in the immediate withdrawal from the placement. Students will document your attendance and appropriate behavior using the attendance log. They will complete their attendance log and have their cooperating teacher sign it each time they are present in their CT’s classroom. This completed log must be turned in to me (Dr. Mason) on or before December 10, 2010 in order for students to get credit for completing the assigned observation and assignments for this course. Since the field placement requirement is just once a week for this practicum, I strongly encourage students to avoid being absent. If, in the instance students must be absent (for illness or other emergency), they must notify the school, their cooperating teacher, and me. They should make several attempts to contact their CT until they have received confirmation that their message has been received. They should send me an e-mail (katherine.mason@wichita.edu) with an explanation for their absence. Finally, students will also earn credit for attending the CI 318 orientation that will take place prior to the start of their field experience.
